If you're like me then the line between 'needing' a Toyota Tacoma truck and 'wanting' one is rather irrelevant.  It's just a quick internal conversation that has something to do with saving money on moving stuff. Uh-huh. ;-)

So, to be totally honest, about the full day I spent tooling around in the 2019 Toyota Tacoma I picked up from our friends at West Coast Toyota in Long Beach... well it was awesome!  Seriously it's been on my to do list since launching iDriveSoCal.

I've been a Tacoma fan for years.  And what made the day even cooler was Bryan Miranda, from West Coast Toyota, coming along for the ride and handling my rapid fired questions all day long culminating in this iDriveSoCal Podcast.

2019 Toyota Tacoma

Bryan Miranda: If you're looking for a great, reliable, durable truck that you want to keep it for a really long time, you cannot go wrong with the Tacoma.

It starts off with the Toyota Tacoma SR, then comes SR5. The SR5 Double Cab then comes a TRD Sport. There's TRD Off-Road. A more off-road version, which is the TRD Pro.

It starts to really change if you get the Limited.

The whole crew out here is fantastic, including Mr. Bryan Miranda, Product Specialist. This guy is like... honestly, he just stumped Professor Quan on some product knowledge.

Now granted, it was a trivia thing, it was Toyota specific, so obviously, Mr. Miranda, being an employee of West Coast Toyota, is going to have that one-up-man-ship on a Professor.

He, in fact, did get the Professor on... but the Professor's guess was very close. It was on the capacity of a fuel tank. At any rate, I'm getting off topic already.

TRD Sport Test Drive

Trying to stay focused, it's hard for me to do sometimes. I love chatting about cars, and Mr. Miranda's a great guy to do it with.

We test drove the 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport.

Bryan Miranda: Correct. Yes.

Tom Smith: Okay. I drove, but Mr. Miranda came with me and answered all of my Toyota questions, all of my Tacoma questions, and it was really cool.

Because usually, I do the vehicle reviews either by myself or occasionally, I'll do one with a colleague at a particular dealer partner…

But this one was a lot of fun because Mr. Miranda is so... his depth of knowledge in Toyota and in the Tacoma, really in the whole lineup of the Toyotas,
