So on 14th April, 2021, the govt. announced that CBSE class 10th board exams have been cancelled for this year citing a huge jump in corona virus covid-19 cases. The last session was already affected and Hon. Education Minister, Mr. Naresh Pokhriyal said that homes have been converted into schools due to the pandemic. Online classes were helpful in the sense that something is better than nothing. But even then, a huge section of society did not have access to smartphones, laptops and internet. This hampered the education quality to such a great extent that it almost broke it. Already the focus was on just the marks of students and it gave power to rote memorisation, lack of conceptual learning and killed the curiosity of the child. The student was already labelled as per the marks they score and now it took it even further. As a result the students across the country rejoiced at the news and took a sigh of relief.. as if a huge pressure has been lifted from their heads. This puts whatever hardwork they did in the backseat. The only chance for the students to prove their worth has been snatched from them and they don't even realise this. Already a lot of their syllabus was deleted from the exam perspective and they were not taught the basics and this has made their foundation terribly weak for the next class. Say a class 9th student needs to know all the concepts about their class so they can excel in class 10th and this goes for every class, class 10th because they need to decide what stream to opt for, class 11th and class 12th because this is the college and career deciding stage. Students have failed to show the mature approach but who is to blame other than our already flawed "education system." What is important is to build a strong foundation for the next session and career. What I mean is this is a time of introspection rather than rejoicing. Students will never be known that they crossed to the next class on their merit. What I talk about is what this cancellation of 2021 CBSE Board exams really mean for students and parents. Watch to find out what can be done and where to start. ReeInstall The New You with Amarrenndra.
