Beginning of a tour of the Old Testament

Formed Out of the Clay

Genesis 2:7-9

7 Then the Lord God formed a mana]">[a] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Adam, Adama all made from the ground

Gen. 2-15-19

Gen. 2:21-24 It is beautiful. Ish, isha. Connection

Genesis 3:1-3, 4-5, 6, 10-11,12-13

The focus of the early church's Sunday morning meeting was to meet, worship the Lord and to spend time together.

Our appeal in baptism is to the Father on the basis of what Jesus did. Our focus is on what Jesus did…..not on ourselves. [paraphrastic]

"Our appeal, and our only appeal, is on the basis of the person of Jesus and what He has done for us!"

Some of the scriptures from Matt Ryniker’s Baptism Sermon this morning,

Ephesians 4:4-6

Romans 6:6-11

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sinonce for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,a]">[a] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

1 Corinthians 15:1-2

15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importancea]">[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Mark 4:34

34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

John 21:24-25

24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.

25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Acts 20:35

35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
