But it was a disastrous weekend for the home team Ferrari as once again Carlos Sainz failed to make it through the first lap of the race. Imola wasn't kind to his teammate and championship leader Charles Leclerc either who made a disastrous mistake while trying to regain second place behind Sergio Perez in the final stages of this race. It cost him both valuable points and a spot on the podium.
