Half of the waste water below the standards of the European Union.
Leath den bhfuíolluisce faoi bhun chaighdeáin an Aontais Eorpaigh.
Irish Water has been criticized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the standards of waste water being pumped into the State's water systems.
Tá Uisce Éireann cáinte ag an nGníomhaireacht um Chaomhnú Comhshaoil (EPA)faoi chaighdeáin an fhuíolluice atá á scoileadh isteach i gcórais uisce an Stáit.
In the annual report for 2022 on the coral on urban wastewater, the EPA says that over half of the wastewater is below the environmental protection standards of the European Union.
Sa tuarascáíl bhliantúil do 2022 ar an gcóiréail ar fhuíolluice uirbeach, deir an EPA go bhfuil os cionn a leath den fhuíolluisce faoi bhun chaighdeáin chosanta chomhshaoil an Aontais Eorpaigh.
In addition, the report states that 3 olympic swimming pools of untreated sewage are being released into water systems every day, thanks to water treatment plants.
Ina theannta sin, deir an tuarascáil go bhfuil díol 3 línn snámha oilimpeach de shéarachas abh gan chóireáil á scaoileadh isteach i gcórais uise gach lá, de cheal ionaid cóireála uisce.
Although 6 villages have been connected to water treatment systems in the past year, 26 towns and villages are still without their own treatment system.
Cé gur ceanglaíodh 6 shráidbhaile de chórais cóireála uisce le bliain anuas, tá 26 bhaile agus shráidbhaile fós gan a gcóras cóireála féin.
54,000 people live in these places, the majority of them in coastal towns.
54,000 duine atá ag cónaí sna háiteanna seo, agus a bhfórmór mór acu ina mbailte cois cósta.
The last of these towns will not have a treatment system until the end of 2028.
Ní bheidh córas cóireála ag an gceann deireanach de na bailte seo go dtí deireadh 2028.
The EPA says the sewage is a threat to the environment and public health and recommends that this work be completed as soon as possible.
Deir an EPA gur bagairt do chomhshaol agus don tsláinte phoiblí é an séarachas abh agus molann sé an obair seo a chur i gcrích a luaithe is féidir.
The report said that 55% of urban waste water is coming from the 15 areas that have failed EU standards, and that new infrastructure is needed for this.
Dúirt an tuarascáil go bhfuil 55 faoin gcéad den fhuíolluisce uirbeach ag teachtf ó na 15 cheantar ar theip orthu sna caighdeáin AE, agus go bhfuil infrastruchtúr nua ag teastáil chuige seo.
For the areas that have infrastructure that does not meet the EU standards, the EPA says that significant and continuous investment will be required for the next 20 years to bring the now deficient system above the standard.
Maidir leis na ceantair a bhfuil infrastruchtúr acu nach bhfuil an baint chaighdeáin an AE amach, deir an EPA go mbeidh infheistíocht shunastach agus leanúnach ag teastáil go ceann 20 bliain leis an córais atá anois easnamhach a thabhairt os cionn an chaighdeáin.
Irish Water should have a long-term plan for this work, but there is no plan to come before the pollution of some of the worst affected bodies of water.
Ba cheart go mbeadh plean fadtéarmach ag Uisce Éireann don obair seo, ach níl aon phlean ann le teacht roimh an truailliú ag roinnt de na dobharlaigh is measa atá buailte.
Author of concern, said the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Dr.
Údar imní, a dúirt Stiúrthóir na Gníomhaireachta um Chaomhnú Comhshaoil, an Dr.
Tom Ryan, that less than half of the waste water is reaching EU standards, thirty years after the State was supposed to do so.
Tom Ryan, go bhfuil níós lú ná leath den bhfuíolluisce ag baint chaighdeáin an AE amach, tríocha bliaina tar éis don Stát bheith ceaptha sin a dhéanamh.
