Beijing rolls out the red carpet for the 2024 summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, or FOCAC. Chinese and African leaders are set to chart a course for China-Africa relations. Over the years, cooperation between China and Africa is a beacon for the Global South on common growth and sustainable development. China has been Africa's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years. The two are keen on carrying out the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. This, in turn, will contribute to realizing the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs. Among those international dignitaries in Beijing this week is UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
