Most people hear "bookkeeping certification" and think that earning one will automatically qualify them as a bookkeeper…

And they couldn't be more wrong.

The term "bookkeeping certification" can be misleading; when you get certified through certain bookkeeping softwares, such as QuickBooks or Xero, you're not getting certified in the actual JOB of bookkeeping—you're getting certified in the SOFTWARE.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't get certified—in fact, I think you probably should—but there's more to bookkeeping than simply getting certified. (And honestly, you don't even need to be certified in anything to do the work!)
