Summer Outside the Window

窗外的夏天

顾城（1956—1993），男，原籍上海，1956年9月24日生于北京一个诗人之家，中国朦胧诗派的重要代表，被称为当代的“唯灵浪漫主义”诗人。顾城在新诗、旧体诗和寓言故事诗上都有很高的造诣，其《一代人》中的一句“黑夜给了我黑色的眼睛/我却用它寻找光明”成为中国新诗的经典名句。

Through the deep night a voice cries on andon

那个声音在深夜里哭了好久

when the sun rises

太阳升起来

the drops of rain sparkle briefly

所有雨滴都闪耀一下

then transform into steam

变成了温暖的水气

but I do not go to wipe off the glass

我没有去擦玻璃

I know that the sky is blue

我知道天很蓝

and every tree raises its hair in its hands

每棵树都龇着头发

in that sound of snapping castanets

在那“嘎嘎”地错着响板

would be a big black beetle in search offood

都想成为一只巨大的捕食性昆虫

Everything is so distant

一切多么远了

I was once as weak as a morning cicada

我们曾像早晨的蝉一样软弱

wings soaked through

翅膀是湿的

and leaves thick, we were young

叶片是厚厚的，我们年轻

knew nothing

什么也不知道，不想知道

and didn't want to know

只知道，梦会飘

all we knew was that the dreams might floatup

会把我们带进白天

might carry us into the daylight

云会在风中走路

clouds might walk along the wind

湖水会把光亮聚成

and the water of the lake might gather thelight into flames

闪烁的镜子

We look out at leaves turning green

我们看着青青的叶片

Still I didn't want to know

我还是不想知道

and have not got up to wipe off the glass

没有去擦玻璃

dark green waves of summer rise and fall

墨绿色的夏天波浪起伏

oars knocking, knocking

桨在敲击

fish parting the glossy current

鱼在分开光滑的水流

the smile of the red bathing suit slowlyvanishing

红游泳衣的笑声在不断隐没

everything is so distant

一切多么远了

and still the summer procrastinates

那个夏天还在拖延

and now the whispers end

那个声音已经停止
