210. Personal Trainers... Don't Be Like Jeff

I just got off a Strategy Call with a coach applying to join the Coaches Cartel. (We’ll call him Jeff)...

I have not ever been so deeply infuriated and annoyed after a 15 minute phone call in my life. So infuriated, in fact - I sat down to shoot this video, create this Facebook Ad, and pay $1.47 for you to see it right now.

Absolutely mind-blowing and downright delusional. If you learn nothing else today, learn this: do not ever be like Jeff.

If we haven’t met yet - my name is Josh Hamilton. I’m the Head Strategy Coach and co-founder at the Coaches Cartel.

You could call me the “gatekeeper”, responsible for constructing the initial 3 year business strategy for every one of our members. In fact, I’ve spoken to over 500 coaches in the past 5 months alone.

Of those 500 calls, Jeff stands above the rest as a shining, glorious beacon of exactly what NOT to do. The antithesis to every irrefutable principle in business, in any industry. I need you to pay attention and use this as a learning opportunity - because if you’re making the same mistakes he is - I can promise you one thing: utter and imminent failure.

In short, my fury has been summoned due to two things:

1)Completely delusional expectations of what he could achieve inside the next 6-8 months. Jeff has been coaching people for two years. He’s bringing in about $1100 in revenue per month, working out of 3 gyms, and harboring 2 online clients. $1100 in revenue - not profit. Cool - totally fine. Everyone starts somewhere.

What blew my socks off was his expected target of hitting $100K PER MONTH inside the next 6-8 months. Hit justification was “all of the business books I read tell me to set unrealistic goals, but I think this is realistic, I see other people on the internet doing it.”

Someone needs to be slapped. Hard.

2)Utter refusal to accept advice, feedback or suggestions from someone who’s currently doing what he’s questing to do (me). Positively baffling. Why book in a Strategy Call in the first place?

Any point I brought up to gently shed light on his state of delusion was stubbornly shot down.
