Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will go over Proverb 23. I will then key in on verse 22: Listen to your father who gave you birth, And do not despise your mother when she is old. Friends it's important that we honor our father and mother. Paul tells us in the Book of Ephesians Chapter 6: verses 1-3 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise, that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth. Today we will continue our study on the Book of Exodus. I will not read any of the chapter, per se, but will go over three laws: 1. The law concerning servants; 2. The law concerning violence; and 3. The law concerning animal control laws. All I will say is that many churches today still have a "law" mentality and urge their congregants to "do this, and do this." Because of what Jesus did on the cross, it is not longer about us. We cannot earn our salvation, no matter how well we perform. Our salvation is based solely on the finished work of the cross! CALL to ACTION - Have an attitude of gratitude. Be thankful and aware of all of the good things God has provided for us; be quick to pay someone (anyone) a compliment and lend a hand to anyone who appears to have a need. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Read the 21st chapter of Exodus; 2. Read Psalm 23; 3. Read the proverb of the day, Proverb 23, over again in its entirety.
