Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will look at Proverb 5.  We will highlight verse 13.  We will then go to the Gospel of Luke and go over the Parable of the Prodigal Son - 15: 11-24.  We will then revisit verse 13 and discuss how our story relates to this verse.  The key takeaway from this story is that the father in our story is representative of Jesus and how he will always receive us - if we invite Him into our lives.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 3. I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day - Judy Kelley, my precious wife. She will be on for the third time. She will go over her favorite verses from this proverb, her thoughts about being back in Florida, and any plans she has for the future. We will also spend a few moments with one of our granddaughters - who was able to visit us our last two weeks at Charis.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will go over Proverb 2.  We will highlight verse 5.  I will then introduce the audience to the great patriarch Abraham, the father of our faith.  We will read parts of Genesis Chapters 12, 15, 17, and 22.  We will then discuss the ramifications of the great faith that Abraham had that God would do what He promised He would do.  We will then review verse 5 and the fact that Abraham had a reverential fear of God.  We will then discuss the fact that Abraham is now in the great chapter of faith in the Bible - Hebrews 11:8 & 9.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill & Judy Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 30. Judy and I will then share our verse from this proverb that spoke to us. We will then introduce two of our granddaughters - one of which was with us last month when we were still in Colorado. She will share about her joy that we are back in Florida. The other will share her thoughts on us being back in Florida and being able to see us on a regular basis. They both then talk about their delight that this coming week we will be going on a trip to Kentucky to visit the re-enactment of the ark and the Creation Museum. We will be able to spend three nights with a first year Charis Bible College student that we befriended this past year. We are really looking forward to seeing us. She has agreed to come on this podcast and she will share her testimony - so I am looking forward to that as well. Judy then shares how pleased she is to be able to spend so much time with the grandkids and really being able to have an impact in their lives and becoming involved in the local politics of the area. Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 29. I will then key in on verse 7 - The righteous considers the cause of the poor, But the wicked does not understand such knowledge. Friends, as Christians, we are to be mindful of the poor. We are to consider their circumstances and to help out when they ask for it as long as it is within our means to do so. Conversely, many people are not mindful of the poor. Regardless of the need, they are more interested in their own lives and the things they have need of. Jesus is a good example that we can follow. Today, we will continue our study of Matthew's gospel. The first portion of Chapter #20 will be a topic of my current series on parables found in Matthew's gospel on my Friday's episodes. I will read verses 20-28 of Chapter 20. These verses develop the story where the mother of the sons of Zebedee ask Jesus that her two sons be placed at the right hand and the left hand of Jesus when He goes into His kingdom. Jesus lets them know that they are not thinking about the cost of what they are asking. He prophesies that they will indeed suffer for the name of Jesus sometime in the future. The disciples are very upset that they had the audacity to ask for this favor. Jesus sets the example for all the disciples that they are to be servants of men, and should not be thinking about who will be greatest. As followers of Jesus, we are supposed to have the same mindset. Finally, we close with two blind me asking for their sight back. Jesus gives it to them. This shows that Jesus still intends that people be healed today (Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ the same yesterday and forever). Call to action: imagine what it must have been like to be blind and have your sight restored; to be deaf and have your hearing restored; to be overcome by an evil spirit, and then to be restored to your right mind. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 29 in its entirety; 2. Reread in its entirety the 20th chapter of Matthew.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 28. I will then key in on verse 1 - The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion. When considering this verse, I ask myself - Why would the wicked flee, if no one is pursuing them? I can think of two things. First of all, they have a guilty conscience about something they've done. Whether they've harmed someone, or maybe stolen something, they may be asking themselves if someone is going to find out what they've done? Their guilt begins to consume them. So they get antsy and feel they have to move to a different location. The lesson to be learned is that if you only do right things, then you will not feel guilty and won't feel threatened or fearful that you will be "found out". On today's podcast we will continue our study on Matthew's Gospel. Today we will be looking at several passages of scripture, beginning with Jesus's thoughts on marriage and divorce. I will read the first 10 verses and go over the fact that God was the originator of the marriage contract. His original intent (and, I believe, His intent today) is that a man and a woman meet, come together, fall in love, and enter into a marriage relationship. He never intended for divorce to happen (nor do I believe He would want divorce to happen today). I will then go over verses 13-15. In these verses Jesus implies that we are to come to God as little children. That is how He see us. He is the all-powerful God. He is greater than we are and we are to come to Him with our needs and with our prayers. Only He has the answers for us. I will close with the tale of the Rich Young Ruler. In verses 16-22 Jesus goes over the fact that we cannot serve both God and money. We are to first love God, and then love people. People are much more important that any material possession we have. If we see that people around us have a need, we are to assist them if we possibly can. Call to Action - think about when you first met and fell in love with your spouse. Purpose in your heart to honor and cherish the union that you have entered into with your spouse and commit to seeing the relationship through until either you or your spouse breaths your last. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 28, in its entirety; 2. Reread in its entirety the 19th chapter of Matthew's gospel.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill & Judy Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 27. I will then introduce you to my special guests for the day - Alfred & Viorica Bain. Alfred & Viorica are the first guests that we have had in our home in Florida that are not family or good friends - but people that we met at Charis Bible College. They are visiting from Nassau, the Bahamas. Alfred is a third year graduate who went to Global Training & Viorica graduated 2nd year last year with Judy & me. They shared about their early childhood, attending Charis Bible College, and what they have done, and how they met.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 26. I will then key in on verse 8 - Like one who binds a stone in a sling Is he who gives honor to a fool. Friends, there are some verses in the Bible that I sometimes pause and ask myself why that verse is in the Bible - and this is one of those verses. Common sense tells me that no one in his right mind would honor a fool (especially for doing something stupid). However, since it is in the Bible there must be the possibility that someone would do that. My advice - only give honor to whom honor is due (see Proverb 3:27). Today we will continue our study on Matthew's gospel. Today we will take a look at Chapter #18. This chapter is conveniently broken into five passages of scripture - but we will only look at three of them.I will begin by reading the first five verses of Chapter #18. My first question is why were the disciples concerned about who would be greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven? This thought goes totally against the lesson that Jesus was attempted to teach his disciples (in that we are to serve one another). Jesus gives a beautiful illustration and tells us that we must humble ourself like a little child to enter into the kingdom. There are five reasons we must have a humble spirit: 1. to enter into the kingdom of heaven; 2. to be great in the kingdom of heaven; 3. to prevent offenses (if you are in pride you will easily be offended by what people do to you); 4. to carry on proper discipline in the church; and 5. for forgiving each other. I will then read verse 6-9. These verses talk about how easily we can become offended. Jesus takes this very seriously (as he tells us that it would be better if we put a huge stone on our feet and killed ourselves than if we create offense to anyone in the kingdom. That is something to ponder. I will close by reading verses 15-20. These verses talk about someone who sins against you. Jesus warns us NOT to go to the teacher, or to our boss, or to our neighbor, and discuss it with them. He tells us to go directly to the person who has hurt us and speak to them about it. Call to Action - Ask yourself honestly - Am I easily offended? If so, pray to God that He help you with that. Friends, we must not allow ourself to be offended by petty things that people do to us. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread in its entirety the proverb of the day, Proverb 26. 2. Reread in its entirety the chapter we covered today - Matthew - Chapter 18.
