Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 13. I will then key in on verses 7 & 8 - One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth. Friends, people (or circumstances) are not always the way they seem. Many people live their lives as though they are wearing masks. They aren't honest people, and will never look you in the eye when they talk to you. My suggestion, avoid these people. They usually cannot be trusted, and they don't have your best interests at heart. As we close out this week I am going to go over portions of the book of Jonah - a short four chapter book of the Bible about a minor prophet (Jonah). God had gone to Jonah and told him He had a job for him. He told him to go to the great city of Ninevah (a city of about 120,000 people). Jonah felt that - if he did what God directed him to do that God would have mercy on the people of Ninevah (and that his reputation - as a prophet) would be ruined. By the end of this lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Jonah cried to the Lord from the belly of the great fish.

2. God heard his prayer.

3. Jonah was more concerned with his reputation with man than how God felt about him.

Call to Action - Friends the purpose of today's lesson is to suggest that if God asks you to do something - that you do it with the best of your ability (and with a cheerful countenance). My question for you today is this - are you one who always puts forth his best effort (always doing what you are told to do with the best of your ability)? or - are you one who avoids work, takes too many breaks at work, and often is one who complains about everything? Think about it.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 12. I will then key in on verse 8 - A man is commended according to his good sense, but one of twisted mind is despised. Friends, if we speak with wisdom or act with wisdom people will look favorably upon us. They will eagerly listen to what we have to say and admire the things that you do. Conversely, if you act like a fool, the opposite reaction will come your way. On today's podcast we will continue our study of the Book of Romans. Today we will be completing Chapter 6 (verses 15-23). By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. As Christians, we have the choice to continue sinning - or to become righteous.

2. Because of what Jesus did on the cross we are no longer slaves to sin.

3. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 11. I will then key in on verse 8 - The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked walks into it instead. This is one of the verses (of Proverbs) that contrasts the results of one that is righteous (in life) as opposed to one who is wicked (or evil - meaning they are NOT righteous). This verse says that if you are righteous you will be delivered from trouble - but that, if you are wicked, you will walk into it (trouble) instead. Let's choose to be righteous. On today's podcast we will continue our study of the Book of Romans. Today we will be going over Chapter 6, verses 9-14. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again.

2. You also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

3. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 10. I will then introduce you to my special guest for the day - Jamie Freeman. Jamie is our financial guy responsible for our finances and is licensed as a Certified Financial Planner. Judy and I have know him for over 20 years. Jamie was on this podcast previously on October 11, 2022 (Episode #138) and has graciously accepted my invitation to become a regular contributor to this podcast. That means he will be coming on every five to six months. On today's podcast he will go over verse 23 of Proverb 10. He will then give a bit of information about the Financial Firm (Freeman Financial) that he began about 10 years ago. He will share a bit about how he was saved at the age of 14, and how he strayed away from God during his years in the navy while he was serving our country. He mentions how his wife kept him on course and got him headed back on the right course. He credits Jesus with the business acumen he has used to steer his business to become quite successful.

Friends, God wants us to have wisdom. Wisdom can only be acquired by having a holy reverence for Him (and who He is). On today's podcast I will be continuing our study of the Book of Romans. Today we will be going over the first 8 verses of Chapter 6. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too might walk in newness of life (friends, this is the importance of the act of baptism - be totally submersed in water (getting rid of our "old man" and then coming up out of the water (becoming totally new).

2. Our old self was crucified with Him.

3. One who has died has been set free from sin.

Call to Action - Friends, why do you try to live a righteous life - is it to earn God's favor? If so, you are missing the point. It is not anything that we do, but ONLY what Jesus Himself did on the cross (for) us that we gain favor (and grace) from God.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 6. I will then key in on verses 12-14. These verses discuss the fact that there are some people in our world that do not have any desire to be righteous. They want to cause conflict and discord wherever they go. This directly opposes the desire of God. On today's podcast we will find an example of these people. We will be going over the Book of Daniel - Chapter 6: verses 1-18. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. We have all been called to something to advance the Kingdom of God (whether it is to share the love of God with a neighbor, a friend, or someone you've just met) - we all have a sphere of influence that pastors may never reach.

2. If we claim to be a Christian some form of persecution will follow.

3. God will always have our back.

Let's make every effort to only do things which we know will please Him. On today's podcast we will continue our study of the Book of Romans. Today we will be completing Chapter 5 (verses 18-21). By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. One act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

2. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, the many will be made righteous.

3. Grace now reigns through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Call to Action - Ask yourself these questions:

How much grace and mercy do you have for people who have wronged you? (friends, we all make mistakes - and thus sometimes hurt those that we love the most). As God has forgiven us of our sins, and has grace and mercy on us, so we should extend grace and mercy to those who wrong us as well.
