Vaughn Johnson (@VaughnMJohnson) and Nick Piccone (@nickpiccone) discuss a dip in the Wednesday Night War ratings once again, but this time, there's good reason as both shows were up against stiff competition.
Despite neither show hitting the 1.0 million mark, it may very well have been the best set of shows thus far for AEW and NXT respectively. The guys discuss a little about the ratings and why they can be overrated by many.
The discussion shifts to the trials and tribulations that professional wrestling, more so WWE since they've been the big dog since 2001, faces in terms of attracting mainstream popularity. Yes, WWE's had partnerships with ESPN and now they are on FOX every Friday night. But what is it about the characters that just doesn't click with the mainstream the way Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and Goldberg did? The lack of dynamic characters in today's industry is showing itself during a time where the in-ring action arguably has never been better. What can companies like WWE and AEW do to really become more "cool"?
