#22: How to Improve Your Memory, Influence & Communications via Storytelling

Listen Later

The greatest communicators are storytellers and the greatest storytellers are the greatest communicators.

Effective storytelling creates meaningful conversations and communications. Stories explain, expound, explore, entertain, educate and connect us to people. The best communicators, whether it’s a one on one situation, or a large audience, use effective storytelling to connect with their audience.

Good stories make concepts, ideas and messages stick with people. Good stories help empower them to do more and create lasting impact.

Storytelling is not only useful in creating effective meaning in our communications, but it’s also useful for remembering things. I’ll share with you how to use a simple, yet effective, technique to improve your memory. It will decrease your study time and improve retention long term. Let's face it some stuff you simply have to remember it, but if you can cut recall it quicker and for longer, it will have a profound impact on everything you do career wise and personally.

In this podcast I use some compelling stories that two doctors have shared. The first is how a letter from a patient created significant personal anxiety and stress for the physician, and the second story is an impactful message that all clinicians should remember. Their stories really hit home their message with the audience. If you want to connect with people more and be more interesting, become a better storyteller.

This podcast is really useful as most people forget how to leverage this exceptionally important tool in all areas of their life. We all have stories that shape us and controls our actions. We also can change our stories and others by the way we share them.

Are you the best storyteller that you can be?
