Over 30% of leads are never contacted at all. What does that tell you? That a lot of salespeople – and the business they work for- are not good at systematic, consistent follow-up.
Most of the salespeople in the study, made only one or two attempts to contact their prospects. In fact, only about 12% made three call attempts. And from there, the numbers drop off sharply. Fewer than 5% of the salespeople in the study made six call attempts. Now, let’s look at this in the light of the third statistic I want to share with you:
By making six call attempts, the salespeople in the study raised their contact success rate to 90%, which is almost a 70% increase over making a single call. In other words, most of the salespeople in this study simply gave up too soon, and they missed a tremendous opportunity.
What does that mean for a business? Whatever you are selling, you need to follow up, if you want to make a sale.
