The answer to the Idaten quiz

先週の、韋駄天に関するクイズの答えです。

答えは「ごちそうさま」でした。

韋駄天のように、色々な場所に行って食べ物を集めてくる

馳走をしてくれて、ありがとうございます。

これが「ごちそうさま」という言葉の由来になっています。

豪華な食事のことを「ごちそう」と言いますが、

食べ物だけでなく、その食べ物を作るための努力も含めて

「ごちそう」と呼ぶそうです。

せんしゅうの、いだてんに かんする くいずの こたえです。

こたえは「ごちそうさま」でした。

「いだてんの ように、いろいろな ばしょに いって

たべものを あつめてくる ちそうを してくれて、ありがとうございます。」

これが「ごちそうさま」という ことばの ゆらいに なっています。

ごうかな しょくじのことを「ごちそう」といいますが、

たべもの だけでなく、その たべものを つくるための どりょくも ふくめて

「ごちそう」と よぶそうです。

Here's the answer to last week's quiz about Idaten.

The answer is “Gochisou sama deshita.”

“Thank you for preparing this food Just like Idaten,

who traveled to various places gathering food (= chisou)”

This is the origin of the phrase “Gochisousama.”

A luxurious meal is called “Gochisou (feast),” and

it's said that “feast” refers not only to the food itself,

but also to the effort put into preparing it.
