“Most people think that if somebody from the Philippines is marrying an American, maybe she only wants money,” observed Filipino-born Kristy Yoder. “I’m a living testimony that it’s not true…I hired my husband full-time.” When Yoder first moved to the United States she began working as a freelance virtual assistant in the hopes that entrepreneurship would allow her to spend more time with her loved ones. Yet, like so many of us, she soon experienced the overwhelm of being a one-woman show. After hiring a VA of her own she was able to increase her business tenfold, developing her own agency of virtual assistance based in the Philippines. Moving into a CEO position, Yoder was able to devote more time to her family and other creative pursuits, like hosting the Master Delegator podcast.
