* If your spouse is going through a hard time, your marriage might be in trouble
* Happy wife, happy life
and while these are all nice sentiments they can actually create bad results for you if you use them as guides when your spouse is going through a hard time.
Because we believe our spouse’s happiness is our responsibility we often try to change them, fix them, and sometimes even enable them by doing things for them that it would be most appropriate for them to do for themselves.
In this episode Abby and I are sharing our counter intuitive approach to support and make space for your spouse when they are having a hard time:
Take Care Of Yourself
Sounds crazy, right?
Take care of myself? I’m fine, it’s my spouse who’s struggling!
The truth is, if you are living in the same physical space as someone who’s struggling for an extended period of time it’s gonna take a toll on you, especially if you’re not taking care of yourself.
Your spouse’s well being and happiness is not your responsibility, it’s their’s.
