In this week's Horsemanship Remarks Show live on YouTube (now on Spotify!), I shared about my wild yearling Revlon, that dun-striped BLM mustang whoâs got me rethinking how to tame/gentle/start a horse. Taming her boils down to three key pieces: relationship, education/horse training, and exposure. They weave together but follow a natural order for a solid foundation:
Relationship First: Itâs about trust and connection. Without this, the rest falls flat or just plain doesnât work. Friends First but also Culture!
Education/Horse Training Next: This is the groundwork and skill-building. Itâs sequential but loops back to trust when she gets lost.Â
Exposure Last: Introduce the real worldâsounds, sights, other horses. Rushing it without the ability to support her will inevitably teach her she has to fend for herself.Â
Revlonâs journey has me hooked on this flow; itâs messy, magical, and verry interesting.
Catch the replay for tips you can use, whether youâre in the arena or logging hours for the Northwood Farms Fall Throwdown. Week 2 is almost over!
