24 Minute Bible - A Simple Journey to Understand the Bible

Archaeology has given us thousands of reasons to ‘trust’ the Bible.  Like Thomas, many want ‘visible proof’  before they ‘believe’. Fair enough! So in this episode we explore just a very few of the discoveries and extra-Biblical witnesses that can help us trust the stories we read in God’s Word. The evidence is there. See and Believe!

The purpose of the Tabernacle on earth was simply to give us a ‘picture’ of the True Tabernacle— the one in Heaven where Jesus (our High Priest) offered his blood  for the once for all payment for sin! The book of Hebrews completes our understanding of the Old Testament Tabernacle of Moses.  The ‘curtain’ or tabernacle veil has been torn in two by the hands of God… and we can now have salvation and intimate friendship with Our Lord. By the work of Jesus.

God, the Architect of the Universe, gave blueprints in the Bible for two specific structures  to be built. One was the Ark of Noah and the other— the Tabernacle of Moses.  In this episode we begin to examine ‘why’ the Lord was so specific in his instructions for this ‘tent’ and ‘holy furniture’.  Was there a deeper meaning than just providing his new Nation of Israel with a place to Worship?  Yes!   And this week— and  next— we will dive deeper into the purpose and meaning of The Tabernacle!

Some critics mock the Old Testament laws as archaic or punitive. A frivolous God just making up some rules to control the people. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Each area of these laws has a direct and profound blessing for humanity. From the laws of hygiene to laws concerning diet to the sexual and societal laws— each one is there to protect and bless human beings. Today’s episode looks at the ‘blessing’ these laws are to our world today.

A huge focus of the Old Testament books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy (the books of Law) is to give a brand new nation a CULTURE. Israel had been enslaved for centuries— now they are free. But to be a people— especially God’s people— they needed holidays to celebrate and special observances to keep. In this episode we talk about the 7 holidays and the 5 offerings God gave to His Nation Israel.

How many of us have set out (with good intentions) to read through the Bible.  But what often happens…? We cruise through Genesis, celebrate with Moses as the Children of Israel are liberated  from 400 years of slavery, but then we run face first into the Old Testament Law. Soon, we get bogged down in regulations and special observances and offerings and  before long… well… we quit. Maybe next year, we say.

In this episode we will take a different sort of look at the EXCITING Old Testament Laws. Honest… you will like it!! Welcome to Episode #48… the Old Testament Laws!

‘It is appointed unto man, once to die’… (Hebrews 9:27). The one experience that all humanity has in common— is death! The Bible is very clear. But the Bible also confirms the reality of ‘life after death’. So… what will it be like when you die? What does the Bible (as well as much modern research confirming Biblical descriptions) have to tell us about our journey from this world to the next? In this episode we explore life after death scenarios and discover great and exciting things ahead… for those who have chosen to make their ‘home’ with Jesus. Hope you have your reservation!!

Our early home life and family experiences serve as an incubator-- growing us into adults.  Family gives us our IDENTITY… our CONFIDENCE.. and our SELF-WORTH. In this episode, we seek to understand about some of the ‘unique’ Old Testament family practices… the Biblical design for Family and some practical advice from the Bible on building or restoring  a healthy and happy family.

The idea of ‘family’ originated in the heart and mind of God. He began Humanity placing the first two people in… a family. When God sent His greatest gift to the World— His Son— He placed him under the watch care, nurturing  and protection of… a family. In this episode we look at ‘Where’ the concept of family originated, the ‘Purpose’ of family and the ‘Gift’ that family is to us all!
