Typically, the babies would be well taken care of, but in other cases, the babies would be killed in order for the family to pocket all of the money paid to them by the mothers. Amelia Dyer was one of these women who killed off infants in order to take the money and make a substantial profit. It's been projected that she killed over 400 babies making her one of the world's most prolific serial killers!
