Dr. Brian Green joins us from Santa Clara University, a private Jesuit (Catholic) University in California. Dr. Green is the Director for Technology Ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, the largest center for applied ethics in the US. He works closely with many Silicon Valley and Fortune 500 companies to help them think thru the ethical implications of technology advancements. He is a co-chair of the Responsible Use of Technology group at the World Economic Forum and is a member of the Safety-Critical AI expert group at the Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society. He also helps to convene several academic discussion groups on AI and human nature involving the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture.
This is a follow-on discussion to Episode 6 (Kosher Autonomous Cars), where we discussed how a Jewish ethical framework would approach some of the life-or-death decisions that artificial intelligence agents are now making on a daily basis.
