我记得呀，我记得

The house where I was born,

我出生的那间屋子，

The little window where the sun

早晨，阳光从小窗

Came peeping in at morn;

进来窥视；

He never came a wink too soon

他从不早来片刻，

Nor brought too long a day;

也不多留半晌，

But now, I often wish the night

但现在，我常愿黑夜

Had borne my breath away.

The roses, red and white,

The fir trees dark and high;

I used to think their slender tops

Were close against the sky:

It was a childish ignorance,

但是现在却少有那般快乐

To know I’m farther off from Heaven

Than when I was a boy.

这首诗歌表达的是对童年快乐的追忆及对如今烦恼的感慨，配乐是班得瑞《日光海岸》专辑里的“ChildhoodMemory”（《童年的记忆》）这支曲子。让我们共同追忆儿时的快乐。

　　诗人Thomas Hood（托马斯·胡德，1799－1845）出生于英国伦敦，父亲是苏格兰籍的书商和出版商。胡德14岁时因丧父而中断学业，在印刷厂当雕版学徒，22岁时成为杂志社的助理编辑，后来又编过几种刊物。胡德以写滑稽诗著称，最喜欢使用双关语以产生滑稽效果。他的诗歌多半采用民谣体，词汇通俗易懂。直到诗人逝世前的最后一年间，他在病重的情况下写下了代表作《衬衫之歌》、《劳动者之歌》、《叹息桥》等诗，为受压迫受凌辱的人们发出心底的呼声。《衬衫歌》对以针线活维持生计的伦敦女工表示了深切的同情，这首诗开了“社会抗议文学”的先河，被译成多种文字，不仅在英国和美国，而且在德国和俄国都成为社会抗议诗歌的典范，被许多社会意识很强的诗人所模仿。
