#26 - How To: Meditation, It's Easier Than You Think

This week I'm talking all about Meditation, the benefits of it, how to do it, my experiences with it. I can hands down say meditation is one of the most important tools that I’ve used to transform my life! 

  • What is meditation? 
    • “Meditation isn’t about becoming a different person, a new person, or even a better person. It’s about training in awareness and getting a healthy sense of perspective. You’re not trying to turn off your thoughts or feelings. You’re learning to observe them without judgment.   • Meditation is relaxation, focus, and awareness
  • Meditation is physical exercise
  • Benefits of meditation 
    • Reduces stress and anxiety
    • Promotes emotional health
    • Enhances Self Awareness
    • Lengthens attention span
    • Generates Kindness
    • Improves Sleep
    • Helps Control Pain
    • Increases sense of connectedness and empathy
    • Improves relationships
    • Makes you more creative, and find flow
    • Helps you work through limited beliefs
  • The Three Parts Of the Brain

    • The limbic system and reptilian are responsible for > 90% of total brain function. 
    • The neocortex is only responsible for < 10% of total brain function.
  • Meditation is a way to strengthen your Neocortex, this is where you can start reprogramming your brain and thinking better thoughts
  • How To Meditate?
    • Quite
    • Alone time, me-time
    • You will have thoughts
    • Relax
    • Breath
    • Stand by mode
    • When you get to the space, DON’T THINK! 
    • Think of this time as getting downloads from your higher self, etc
  • There are so many ways to meditate

  • Non-Judgment is a huge part of meditation
    • Of thoughts, of others, and of emotions
  • Commit to curiosity and compassion during this journey!
    • This journey isn’t easy, it takes daily practice but it’s worth it!
