Fun facts 

  • Lake Isabella is one of the largest reservoirs in Southern California.
  • It sits right where the Kern River comes out of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
  • The lake was created in the 1950s when the Isabella Dam was built for flood control.
  • The area is famous for rafting, fishing, and motorcycle rides through the Kern River Canyon.
  • The ride on Highway 178 is considered one of the best scenic rides in California.
