Jesus’ Forerunners
Luke 1:67-80, 3:1-6

Main idea: Jesus is superior to his forerunners. 


The forerunner was born of a miraculous conception (Lk. 1:5-17).
Jesus was born of an immaculate conception (Lk. 1:26-38).


The forerunner provided redemption for his people (Gen. 22:1-19).
Jesus provided redemption for all people (1 Tim. 2:5-6).


The forerunner rescued his people from their enemies (Judges 13-16).
Jesus rescued all people from sin and our enemy, Satan (Colossians 2:15).


The forerunner provided forgiveness of sin to the people (Numbers 21:4-9).
Jesus provided forgiveness of sin to all people (John 3:14-16).
