27. Australian Improv Teacher on Becoming Atheist-- Ashley Moore (Part 1)

Listen Later

Leaving His Christian Faith Behind. Australian, Atheist, and Scott's Improv Teacher in Amsterdam, Ashley Moore joins the podcast to talk about his spiritual journey out of Christianity.

Ashley's Story:

Ashley describes how he grew up in a devout Catholic background, including Catholic primary and secondary school. He is the type of person who wants to be all in when he believes something. He also wants to know fully what it is he believes not just the morals he is told to obey. This lead him to look into his faith and ultimately start to question it. Not all at once but gradually overtime the gaps in the narrative and the desire to look into all religions, not just Christianity, lead him to decide he did not prescribe to any religion. Yet he finds himself still drawn to religious ideologies. He is always curious why people believe what they believe and how they came to that conclusion.

Other Topics Discussed:

  • The spirituality of rock climbing and improv and how Ashley uses them to get rid of his ego.
  • The moments in Scott's life that lead him to believe there is in fact a God, including his wife's back being healed and him not dying on a mountain.
