Well, I will tell you what it doesn't mean. It does not mean that Krishna can't speak to you through nature or through the voices of other people. That's why the idea of vartmana-pradarśaka Guru comes from: as somebody who's unrelated to Krishna consciousness, who's just an ordinary person, might say something to you to inspire you to become Krishna conscious. And you also might serendipitously meet people by Krishna's arrangement that suggest something or another that helps you move forward on your path.
