Dreams of Consciousness Podcast Episode 281 features an interview with Clyde Petersen, director of Even Hell Has Its Heroes.
For over 30 years, there has been much rumour and mythmaking surrounding doom/drone metal pioneers Earth. That won't be put to rest by the recently completed film Even Hell has its Heroes, which eschews the usual assemblage of talking heads, instead opting to create an audio/visual experience that's as resistant to categorization as its subject.
I spoke with filmmaker Clyde Petersen about how they went from Earth's tour manager to documentarian, and what it was like interacting with metal fans as an outsider. We also discussed Clyde's feelings about the typical music documentary format, and how Seattle may have fostered Earth's uniqueness.
My thanks again to Clyde for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
