Before You Bloom

29 ~ Losing their home to the Lismore floods and the resilience, hope and strength that got Tegan and her family through

Listen Later

In this episode, the beautiful Tegan opens up about the unexpected devastation her family faced when their home in Lismore fell victim to the 2022 floods. Despite living in an area in Lismore deemed safe from floods, Tegan, her partner Anthony, their toddler Rome, and their animals found themselves racing against rising waters that eventually took over their home. The experience shattered not only their physical space of the home but also a significant part of Tegan's identity, which has always been tied closely to her home and safe space. Tegan shares the challenges of living in different spaces, delivering her miracle baby Rocco, and the incredible support they received from the community during the cleanup and rebuild. This episode explores the impact of natural disasters on families and sheds light on the strength found in rebuilding lives even after enduring such immense loss. As Tegan and her family continue to repair their home, Tegan reflects on the gratitude she feels for the experience, acknowledging the unexpected strength gained through hardship and how much she has changed as a person, acknowledging truly how strong, resilient, and capable she is. Join us in this moving conversation about loss, resilience, and the ability to find hope amidst chaos.
