The world’s oldest profession has roots in biracial history. Today we learn about Mahogany Hall, Madame Lulu White, and “Countess” Willie Piazza.

Storyville was a red light district in New Orleans between the end of the 19th century to the early 20th century that legalized prosititution. Mixed race women were popular in bordellos, as well as the madames. After 1917, things changed.
