29: Why “Don’t go to bed angry” fails police, firefighter, and military wives

You’ve been told marriage advice like “don’t go to bed angry,” but as a first responder or military wife, that would mean not going to sleep til 3am after your police husband gets home from night shift or never sleeping while your firefighter spouse or military spouse is deployed. Or, it might mean that you text your husband your deepest, darkest angry feelings while he’s on duty at a dead body call as a deputy wife. Your husband isn’t biologically available to actively listen to you. You need a new method. I share how my Assertive Trauma Informed Communication method has helped me as a police wife and my client to feel heard and supported.
