Before I get into this, let me make one thing very clear: I am not against making a lot of money. Do your money mindset work. Get out there and get loaded. I want you and I to change lives, get rich doing it, and then turn around and put it in the hands of people and organizations that can make a real, positive difference in this world.

However - I think that many of us are approaching our businesses with a money-centric mindset that is not actually helping us get there. And I think that our obsession with 6-figure and 7-figure coaches is part of it. Here’s why:

Creating a successful business is hard work. It requires determination and faith and never giving up even when things are hard or don’t seem to be working. The message that many of us seem to be taking away from watching all of these “I made 6 figures in 8 months, let me show you how” coaches is that if we do it right we will make 6 figures in 8 months.

As a result, a few things happen:

-We get impatient and give up too quickly

-We act out of desperation and don't make sound, measured decisions

-We stop thinking about our people because we're too busy thinking about that 6-figure coach

-We shut up because we feel like we aren't an authority if we aren't making lots of money

-We abandon our intuition in favor of formulas and "should"s
