2GuysTalkingHorror - TV & Movie Horror Review & Why You Love Them episodes

  • Mary Shelly’s FRANKENSTEIN: A Celebration 200 Years In The Making!
It’s often credited as the first “monster” book. The granddaddy of all monsters.  A novel that dared to ask the questions of not only the moral implications of “playing God” but also what is the purpose of life?  What basic human needs are most important?  What lengths will we go to defend and or avenge them?  And what actual right do we have to any of it?
For over 200 hundred years it has spawned hundreds of film, television, stage and comic book adaptations. Inspired countless concepts that are now so associated with horror lore they are one with the genre. And influenced hundreds of creators, artists and storytellers to peak behind the dark side of science as well as the consequences of human curiosity.  We are of course talking about Mary Shelley’s masterpiece Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus.
Join us as we dive into the history and legacy of the greatest monster of them all and celebrate the 200th birthday of Victor Frankenstein, The Creature and Shelley’s triumphant horror novel and discover why, after 200 years, it is still alive!…here on this special episode of 2GuysTalkingHorror.

  • Cut The Crap Movie Review – Halloween (2018)
In the age of reboots, remakes and reimaginings, a very crucial piece of storytelling is, most of the time, overlooked…Legacy. When writers and filmmakers ignore the legacy of the horror property they intend to “refresh”, the end product usually ends up a rehash of an old story with updated effects. That’s NOT what fans want!
The only reason to re-anything is to improve upon the original by adding something creatively new, while still respecting the source. But sometimes too much respect of the original leaves you trapped in a box with no room for creativity because you are so focused on adhering to the decades and decades of material that has come before. You dare not change the formula because change is scary, especially for horror fans. We don’t want to see the same thing over and over and over again…do we?
How do you respect legacy without destroying it? Do you cater to the fans? Do you kneel at the alter of nostalgia? Do you risk it all and try something…new?
A film has arrived that has divided horror fans because it both respects the legacy of the franchise and spits in its face! That film is Halloween 2018. Prepare to take a trip along the multiple highways of continuity as 2GuysTalkingHorror explain the legacy of Michael Myers and share our thoughts on his big screen return during this Cut The Crap Movie Review!

  • Talk About Terrifying – You Got Your Zombie In My Peanut Butter!
There’s something frightening about trends. One day, it’s just a random blip on your social media news feed. The next day, everyone is dumping buckets of ice water on themselves while they try on flesh colored leggings and chewing on packets of laundry soap. Once a trend gets going, it’s almost impossible to stop. Much like a hoard of flesh craving zombies! Since 2004, with the release of the hit film Shaun of the Dead, the zombie trend has been growing. No longer are the living dead just for horror fans, these rotting corpses are on your televisions, in your reading materials and eating your neighbors! And just like asking a person if they know who Scooby-Doo or Mickey Mouse are, the average person can not only tell you WHAT a zombie is, but give you their (mostly horrible) impression of how one walks! As the mob of flesh eaters bang endlessly on your doors, 2GuysTalkingHorror is here to help navigate YOU through the good, the bad and the rotting when it comes to zombies in pop culture.

  • Cut The Crap Movie Review – Harbinger Down
Everyone has an opinion. In the world of film, “critics” are tasked with giving us a well rounded look at the upcoming feature we may or may not be interested in seeing. Horror always seems to get the short end of the stick due to its basic nature of being disturbing, violent and sometimes gory. Here at 2GuysTalkingHorror, we think of ourselves as film appreciators instead of critics. We LOVE horror films; good or bad. When you boil films down to their three basic parts, script, acting and production, finding the hidden gems are a lot easier. Especially when you add practical effects into the mix.
Get your score cards ready, folks! It’s time for a Cut The Crap Movie Review of the 2015 sleeper hit Harbinger Down…from 2GuysTalkingHorror!

  • Cut The Crap Movie Review – IT (2017)

Stephen King has long been labeled the modern day Master of the Macabre, even though not all of his novels and short stories are considered horror. But because the majority of his body of work does exist in the realm of nightmare fueled, scream-inducing terror, they are ripe for adaptation.
Over the decades, King’s work has appeared on both the big and small screens. During the ’90’s and early 2000’s, it wasn’t uncommon to see a new tv mini-series based off a King book every year or so. One would think that breaking up a massive story over two, three or sometimes even four nights would give filmmakers the chance to adapt King’s works more faithfully, right? The horror and gore had to be watered down for the television viewing public, but that’s a small price to pay for getting the story transferred, isn’t it?
    Wrong!
You can’t do justice to any written work if you have to censor the tone to make it work for a new medium! Cut parts out that won’t transfer well to film? Understandable. Change things around so the flow of the film is more fast-paced than the book? If you have to. But when you boil it down, the point of Stephen King’s work is to make you as uncomfortable as possible while peeling back the layers of real-life horrors! Tricking people, King hides those horrors behind the mask of a possessed car, or a rabid dog, or a haunted hotel…or a child eating, shapeshifting clown!
2017 brought moviegoers what some fans and critics are calling the BEST interpretation of King’s work ever! The film was a juggernaut at the box office and has since been made available on DVD, Blue Ray & VOD. But after all the hype…does it still hold up?  It’s time to Cut The Crap as 2GuysTalkingHorror reviews the 2017 theatrical release of IT.

  • Fright Filled Franchises – The Resident Evil Film Series
Viral Outbreaks. Bio-Terrorism. Deforming Mutations. Flesh-Craving Zombies. All of these things are synonymous with the Resident Evil film series. A film series based (loosely) on a successful video game franchise of the same name. A film series that has given us six movies over a span of fifteen years. A film series that has divided genre fans since its inception. A film series that has reached its Final Chapter? As this installment of Fright Filled Franchises unfolds, we will blast away at the controversy and skepticism surrounding these movies and ask the important questions… Should you stray from the source material when it has such a rich history? Is it important to allow for character development even if your characters are two dimensional? Do flashy 3D effects, fast-paced action sequences and super-powered clones make up for the lack of plot and overall story structure? Grab your side arm, dose up on the anti-virus and strap yourselves in, fans! We’re heading to Raccoon City and beyond on this episode of 2GuysTalkingHorror!

  • Talk About Terrifying – No Clowning Around
The most important thing in any type of relationship is trust. We trust our parents when they tell us “There’s no such thing as monsters.” We trust our friends and loved ones when they tell us “There’s nothing wrong.” But what if that trust is broken? For example…when Hollywood misleads us with remakes and movie trailers that make no sense. Or even worse, when clowns start to terrorize instead of entertain. In this episode of Talk About Terrifying, we roll up our sleeves and work out some of our frustrations by punching the hell out of things we hate…because our trust has been broken! We’re Not Clowning Around…on 2GuysTalkingHorror!
