Projects
·         Charlie Leighton - replacing the boat ramp, increased boat ramp and car parking spaces, reconfigured parking to improve the flow of traffic, additional dockage with a floating dock, dredge, picnicking areas, pedestrian access along the water with connectivity under the bridge, expansion of the crew/rowing building site, and an open green space and gazebo, among other improvements

·         County Line Bridge - replacement of a roadway bridge originally built in 1974. Project also includes removing separate pedestrian bridge and incorporating into a single structure. Martin County was awarded a $3 million State Grant, $3 million Federal Grant Appropriation

·         Rocky Point Neighborhood Restoration project, which is now 50% complete. The project includes replacing and installing new stormwater pipes and drainage structures, along with concrete driveway and sidewalk replacement, swale regrading and pedestrian safety improvements. These upgrades will improve drainage, roadway conditions and overall infrastructure throughout the Rocky Point neighborhood.
 

·         Septic to Sewer Conversions – 22 prioritized project areas. Currently underway:  Beau Rivage 248 properties (Force Main) over 13K connected

·         September 11 Memorial Bridge Walk: Jock Leighton Park, Opening Ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m., bridge walk begins at 9 a.m.  – MC Firefighters, MCSO, MCSD

·         9/11 Memorial Tribute Ceremony, 7 p.m. outside Peter & Julie Cummings Library, Palm City – Remember, honor, come together. wreath laying, candle ceremony, bagpipers, guest speakers. Hone the heroes who responded, reflect on the spirt of unity that followed.  

Historic Tours:
Visitors can explore the rich history of the Mansion at Tuckahoe during free tours on the first and third Wednesday of each month, from November 2025 through May 2026, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. No reservations are required, but please arrive 15 minutes early. Free, historical tours of Captain Henry Sewall's House are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month from April 1, 2026, through May 20, 2026. Charlie Leighton Park Event: Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of improvements to Charlie Leighton Park! The event will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 9:30 a.m. Updates to the park included boat ramp replacement, floating dock installation, parking lot reconfiguration and repaving, as well as picnic area, walking path and gazebo installation. ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 17.9., RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MARTIN COUNTY PARKS, GENERAL ORDINANCES, MARTIN COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO FISHING ON COUNTY OWNED PROPERTY - The Board tabled this item for staff to rework the ordinance language (investigate drone/boat language regarding chumming the waters, add an hour before and after when beaches open/close, and reference state law).

CONSIDER ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 155, STREETS, ROADS AND BRIDGES, GENERAL ORDINANCES, MARTIN COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO SPEED LIMITS, DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY, REQUIRED PERMITS, AND SECURITY - This is a request for approval of amendments to Chapter 155, Streets, Roads and Bridges, General Ordinances, Martin County Code to rely on the Florida Statutes as they relate to establishing speed limits, to authorize the County Engineer to apply for state and federal permits for County projects - The Board adopted the Ordinance amending Chapter 155, Streets, Roads and Bridges, General Ordinances, Martin County Code.

PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE MARTIN COUNTY ZONING ATLAS TO CHANGE THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION FOR BREW HORIZONS LLC (D069-002) - The Board received and filed the agenda item and all attachments as an exhibit and adopted a Resolution amending the Martin County Zoning Atlas to change the zoning district designation on the site from M-1, Industrial District, to LI, Limited Industrial District. The Board approved and recommended that the applicant work with the neighbors regarding access into the businesses.
