In this episode we have the pleasure of interviewing Bob Kroon on the show, and Bob is the CEO and Founder of August Berres.

Bob Kroon has a fifty-year history in durable goods, primarily the furniture industry. He began as a coop engineer with Maytag. His furniture background began in manufacturing engineering with The Hon Company in 1979. In the next 18 years, he served in assignments in product engineering and general management.

His subsequent experience includes contract electronics manufacturing, high-end residential furniture, and hospitality furniture.

He is currently the CEO and Founder of August Berres, a startup that is revolutionizing commercial interiors with cordless power. The company is using battery technology to power workplaces, eliminating the need for 120V power and cord tangles on the floor.

In this episode, Bob shares with us the importance of exit planning from day 1. Bob discusses how having that mindset ahead of time will drastically influence your business strategy and growth decisions.  You have to know where you are going in order to get there, right?

Just a few of the key exit planning segments is knowing who you are going to try to sell your business to one day, having a strong leadership team in place that can run the business without you and focus on building value, not just sales.  Building value is VERY different than just getting sales.

Bob also dives into acquisitions as he was part of a company that acquired 45 facilities in less than 18 months, and the challenges that lied therein.  Bob talks about why acquisitions fail and what you can do to prevent failure.
