Jim Trotter is a national columnist for The Athletic based in San Diego. He spent nearly three decades covering the National Football League for NFL Media, ESPN, Sports Illustrated & The San Diego Union-Tribune. He is the winner of the 2023 Bill Nunn Memorial Award & the 2023 Journalist of the Year awarded by The National Association of Black Journalists. A proud graduate of Howard University, he is a Pro Football Hall of Fame voter & a former president of Pro Football Writers of America. He has authored two books, including "Junior Seau: The Life & Death of a Football Icon."
