Take a bite: On this episode, our hosts Norman Tan, editor-in-chief of Esquire Singapore and Anita Kapoor, speaker, host and TV personality, are joined by three cast member of Netflix’s first Singapore-focused docu-series, Singapore Social—Mae Tan, Sukki Singapora, and Vinny Sharp.

Anita shares her experience being part of the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) and Silver Screen Ball the past weekend.
 
The hosts celebrated the reception of episode 29’s podcast guest Singaporean director Anthony Chen’s newest film Wet Season (2019) at SGIFF, and the lead actress Yeo Yann Yann’s Best Actress win at the Golden Horse Awards 2019.
 
Anita also recommended keeping an eye out for A Land Imagined (2018), a neo-noir mystery thriller written and directed by Singaporean filmmaker Yeo Siew Hua. The film had an outstanding performance at the Golden Horse Awards 2019, winning Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Film Score.

It has only been two days since the drop of Netflix’s first Singapore-focused docu-series Singapore Social—the series was released on 22 November 2019 globally in 189 countries. 
 
In this episode, three cast members—online influencer and fashion insider Mae Tan; entertainer, activist and burlesque queen Sukki Singapora; and YouTube personality and filmmaker Vinny Sharp—sat down with our hosts to talk about their experience. 
 
The cast shared how they got involved in the show, what made them say yes, and their thoughts on how accurately the final product portrayed them, their lives and the nuances of living in Singapore.
 
The podcasters also delve into the politics surrounding the show, and the cast discuss what it’s like being handed the responsibility to represent Singapore.
