As we strive to enter the straight gate, do you realize the importance of resting? Resting is actually a weapon of spiritual warfare; spiritual warfare is more than praying and fasting or decreeing and declaring God's word. When we offer ourselves to God, that is our soul, spirit, and body, we are weapons for His righteousness.
If you are using your mental, emotional, or physical skills, abilities and resources to survive emotionally, you are fundamental at odds with Jesus's word in Matthew 16:25: "For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it."
What are your emotional survival responses? Can you train your mind on God and rest in Him? Is God your landing pad?
