Relationship Game Changers w/Kim Moore

After a few weeks of respite, we are glad to have you back with us as we embark on a new teaching series about “Needs, Wants & False Prophets” and why it’s important for believers during these end times.

Why are these topics important and relevant today? We all have needs and wants, and we all contend with the devil’s desire to meet our needs/wants in exchange for our worship. Satan relentless pursuits seem to be intensifying with each passing day… and the stakes are getting larger.

Our first two installments (Parts 1-2) will set the foundation of our needs versus our wants and who is responsible for meeting them. Needs & wants are not the same despite what we often tell ourselves. In Part 2 we will see how Jesus instructs us how to contend with our wants while in the world.

In Part 3 we will revisit the biblical warnings of false teachers/ prophets that are ever-present in and outside of the body of Christ today. It is the false prophet(s) that prey upon our needs and wants in the body of believers.

Lastly, we will wrap up this series by emphasizing why these topics are important to believers with a foundation of faith built on Truth (God’s Word); it is essential for enduring temptation in the last days.

Welcome to our final installment of this series Are You Human? Part 10.

This series would not be complete without share the most important component for believers to reclaim our humanity, our souls -- the role of the Holy Spirit, our advocate, our helper.

Last week we talked about the key to transforming our souls… giving up something of value for something of greater value. When you make this choice, you’ll need help. You cannot transform yourself on your own. If you are unwilling to give up the things you value in your life, you will remain governed by fear as we discussed in Part 9.

Let’s be clear. We cannot change ourselves; we cannot transform ourselves. Left to our own devices, we will struggle and fail in OUR efforts to become transformed in God’s image and likeness. Even Jesus in His humanity made it clear that He did and said nothing on His own but only that which His Father directed. Jesus was filled with the Spirit of God. He didn’t rely on His own efforts. He submitted all parts of Himself (His humanity) to God… unto death on the cross. Thank You, Jesus!

Most Christians would agree on the role and importance of the Holy Spirit. Even those on the pulpit would wholeheartedly agree; however, many continue to promote a gospel that undermines the saving grace of the Holy Spirit. That is, they preach gospels centered on YOU… your breakthroughs, your gifts, your efforts, your faith, your prayers, your ministry, your . All the while the body continues to suffer.

It’s NOT about YOU and what you can do for God to win His approval. The world will tell you otherwise. Simply look at the multi-billion dollar self-help industry. Self-help puts YOU are at the helm of your destiny. There are so many taglines in the marketing of self-help that I won’t waste your time. You are probably familiar with them by now.

SELF-HELP is NOT the same as HOLY SPIRIT HELP!

What do you struggle with in your Christian life? Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life???

Lust is a spirit. Pride is a spirit. Anger is a spirit. Fear is a spirit… etc. You cannot confront a spirit with the things in the natural, physical world. Only the Spirit of God is equipped to defeat these spirits.

Are you ready to give up the things that you value in your life for something of greater value?

Do you want the help of the Holy Spirit to guide you in the transformation of your soul?

The Key to Transformation -- choosing between something you value for something of greater value. That’s the only way to reclaim our humanity, to reclaim our souls in the midst of this fallen world.

Welcome to Part 9 in our series “Are You Human?”.

Today’s teaching reveals a pattern in the Bible that illustrates how MANY of those called by God underwent a transformation: giving up something that they valued and surrendered it to God. In all cases, fear had to be confronted.

Who are the MANY that are described in the Bible that confirm this pattern of real transformation?

Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Ruth, Nehemiah, Hannah, Rahab, Ester, David, Jonah, Giddeon, Peter, Paul, and more… and scripture reveals this pattern of giving up something valued for something of greater value.

We don’t obtain God’s approval by doing “all the right things”. Things like reading the Bible, praying in the morning, praying before bedtime, going to Church, helping other people, giving money and time to your Church, etc. While it feels good, this is NOT how God approves the believer. God approves what HE makes for Himself, for His pleasure… not ours. WE DON’T WORK FOR GOD’S APPROVAL. We work with God’s approval from a place of REST as Kim explains in today’s teaching in more detail.

Why are we confronting the question -- Are you Human?

If you’ve been following us throughout this series, you know that we engaged in a spiritual war-- the war over the souls of humanity. In this war, we (humanity) are the prize that Satan seeks to de-humanize; we are also the weapon that God has purposed for this war. God wants a family (a people) for Himself. That is you, me, and everyone that will surrender to the one true God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

The enemy relentlessly continues to transform us to becoming non-human through a well-established arsenal: pharmaceuticals, technology, education, process foods, alcohol & drugs, AI/ Virtual Reality, sex & violence… and the list goes on.

Becoming human again -- reclaiming our humanity -- is not only important, it’s necessary!

In this war our greatest asset is our attention. Whatever captures our attention and consumes our time will eventually inform our behavior. Where we devote our attention influences what we say and do, where we spend our time, what we initiate and how we respond, the people include in our lives, the places we go and what we buy, etc.

Welcome to Part 8!

In this episode, we take a look at Moses, his humanity, and what Moses had to overcome in order to fulfil the assignment that God had called him to do… to lead His people out of bondage from Egypt to a place promised by God.

Did you know that Moses had to overcome fear? Fear is accompanied by the thought of punishment, and Moses had his own fears to confront. God worked with Moses’ humanity, his fears without contempt or disgust. God will work with your humanity in the same way He did with Moses, Paul and Peter.

We hope you will relate to Moses and how he overcame his fears (with God’s help) in a way that you relate to Paul and Peter (Parts 6-7). Will you concede to fear?

In the previous teachings in our series Are you Human?, we looked at the humanity and transformation of the apostle Paul.

In Part 7, we take a deep dive on how God dealt with Peter in the same ways He did with Paul.

What to expect in this episode:

* A scriptural look at Peter’s humanity & transformation.

* A side-by-side comparison (the similarities and differences) between Peter and Paul.

* How God restored Peter’s likeness to become naked and not afraid.

In Part 5 of the series “Are You Human?”, we shined the spotlight on the apostle Paul and his humanity. Today’s teaching takes a scriptural account of Paul’s transformation from how God made him, to what God created him to be… in God’s image and likeness.

Why is our humanity so important? If we neglect an understanding of humanity -- Paul’s, our own -- then we will not have a full appreciation for what God accomplished through Jesus Christ.

Paul’s Transformation

The road to Damascus marked the beginning of Paul’s transformation -- a process that occurred over many years characterized by culture clashes, numerous trials, hardships, and near-death encounters. While Paul accepted the invitation, his transformation was not automatic.

Paul tells us about his transformation by making four (4) statements he wrote in his New Testament letters.

* Galatians 1:15-18

* 1 Corinthians 15:8-9

* Ephesians 3:7-8

* 1 Timothy 1:15-16

Kim summarizes each of Paul’s statements to show the transformation that God orchestrated in his life.

What kinds of experiences did God use to help Paul embrace his humanity?

How was Paul transformed from a privileged, arrogant, people-pleaser to a humble servant that connected with the Church on a human level?

Can you relate to Paul’s life and his experiences that brought about his transformation?

Today’s episode in the Series “Are you Human?” focuses on the humanity and transformation of the apostle Paul.

As believers in Christ, we all “know” about the life of apostle Paul. He arguably wrote the majority of the New Testament. We know about his road to Damascus experience, the challenges of his assignment, his near-death experiences, his letters to the churches in Asia and Macedonia, and ultimately his martyrdom.

Paul was called out of the religious system of the Pharisees to serve God. Before his road to Damascus encounter, Saul thought he was already serving God by persecuting the followers of Christ.

So, what happened to Saul of Tarsus (besides the name change)?

Who was the man Saul of Tarsus? What do we know about his transformation to Paul the Apostle and servant of the living God?

After listening to this episode, I hope you will see the human side of Paul and can identify with some of the same human challenges that he faced throughout his internal transformation.

Next week teaching will focus on how God used Paul in his anointing to bring the gospel to the Gentiles and how Paul responded to God’s calling.

How can we truly identify with Christ while paying so little regard to His humanity?

Last week Kim promised to share her version of Three (3) Kinds of Believers in comparison to a cell phone. Like cell phones, believers often need to be reset. There are three kinds of resets that can be likened to believers:

* Soft[ware] reset

* Hard[ware] reset

* Factory reset

Are you a soft, hard, or factory-reset believer??? Listen on and decide for yourself.

Next up, Kim shows how much emphasis the Bible places on Jesus being a human. In His own words, Jesus reinforces that He is human and was given for our benefit in remembrance of the Lord’s Supper, as did Paul in his Second letter to the Corinthians. Both Old and New Testament scripture reinforces the importance of Jesus’s humanity.

The Bible is clear on Jesus being fully human; however, before you now is a question that was posed at the beginning of this series: Are you human?

As Christian’s today, it may be the most important question we ask of ourselves. Becoming fully human is not a detour from God’s purposes… it IS His purpose.

WHY DID JESUS BECOME HUMAN?

We all know that our redemption required a human, created in God’s image and likeness, totally submitted to God, sinless, sacrificed on the cross, died and buried, resurrected from death, and became a life-giving Spirit.

FIRST THE NATURAL… THEN THE SPIRITUAL

Why is this important? Why does this matter?

It matters in how we relate to God (and Jesus), how we work with God, and how we understand the process and the pattern that God requires of us. There is a great cost for you and me to becoming human again, surrendering ourselves to God. First the natural (human), then the spiritual for rebirth. This is the way; this is the truth, and Jesus is the prototype.

We must connect with Jesus’s humanity if we are going to connect with others. If we ever hope to be spiritually mature, it is because we have embraced our humanity. First the natural, then the spiritual.

Jesus became human so that we could become human again… to restore our humanity.

It matters and Part 3 breaks it down for us, fully backed by scripture.

Last week we began our first teaching in the series Are you Human? We addressed some important albeit arguably strange questions about being human, how did we become inhuman, and why these fundamental questions are important now for every follower of Christ.

Have we outsourced our humanity to the man-made systems of this fallen world?

In some form or fashion, WE ALL HAVE and to varying degrees. In the process of offloading our humanity we have forfeited our responsibility, our freedom, and the benefits of being created in the God’s image.

Our second installment in Part 2 builds upon the answers to these foundational questions. Today’s teaching talks about Jesus as THE WAY back to our humanity.

THE STARTING POINT

The way back requires us to know the right starting point. The starting point determines our destination; it informs our interpretation of reality. It helps us establish our priorities and influences our decisions that affect our relationships. The starting point helps us discern what is true from what is false.

Everything related to God hinges on us having the right starting point, so that we know His goal, His objective, His strategy and to know where God is going.

We must get the starting point right!

Again, God’s goal is to have a people set apart for Himself, a family that is naked (uncovered) and not ashamed; a people that voluntarily worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

Both the Old and New Testament have plenty to say about our starting point and the way back to God through His son, Jesus Christ.
