Years ago there was a bright young woman named Lauren who graduated with a communication degree from my university. She went on to grad school and won a scholarship, partly based on a submitted essay. It began, “I need to get bread, carrots, and shaving cream tomorrow at the grocery store. Did I move the clothes from the washer to the dryer?”
These were the thoughts that were going through my mind the night I was physically attacked, beaten, and sexually assaulted.”

Today and next week we will hear the Story of Lauren and how she recovered after surviving acquaintance rape.
