315 - Dance or cry today

When you drop your kids at school or with childcare do you feel like dancing or crying?

Did you ever see that video of the woman that drops her kids off at the bus stop on the first day of school after a long summer and she is waving goodbye and then once the bus is out of sight she breaks into a happy dance?

If that's you  - then dance!

If dropping your kids makes you sad - then cry.

Whatever your emotions are, honor them. Take a lesson from your kids (and be an example for your kids) that it is okay to feel your feelings!

Toddlers are great at working through their feelings. One minute they are on the ground mid tantrum screaming and pounding and then then 20 seconds later they are asking you nicely to play with them.

While this may seem a little crazy; it is far from it. The child worked through their emotions. They got their anger and frustration out and they are ready to move on.

Most adults don't do this. You bury your emotions, put on a happy and strong face and get on with your life until one day out of nowhere the emotions can't stay buried anymore and they come out! And you're like, "I don't know where that came from!"

It came from you burying your feelings for so long and not expressing and working through them like your toddler.

Today, feel those feelings. There are no feelings you "should" feel. Your feelings are valid. Dance, cry, scream...or do all 3!
