Fortitude Community Outreach is a grassroots nonprofit in Kankakee County that provides emergency shelter, street outreach, transitional housing, and workforce development for the homeless. The backbone of this wonderful organization is founder, Dr. Dawn Broers, PhD, LCSW. Dawn and I had a great conversation starting from where she grew up in Indiana to what the future holds for Fortitude Community Outreach. And from what she tells us, it sounds like a very bright future is ahead for the organization! That is, as long as we as a community continue to give them the support that they need.
