For our third episode, Eric Wier and Greg Wier talk about how their hobby time has recently been occupied by playing various board games, including an asymmetric wargame called Root, designed by Cole Wehrle and released by Leder Games. They talk about how they remain engaged in Games Workshop’s settings, but have slowly lost interest in playing the games associated with them. Their interest has turned towards more mechanically-tuned board games. They talk about how the board game Root builds a compelling narrative through its artwork and game mechanics, telling the story of anthropomorphic animals battling over control of a fantasy woodland. They also touch on the growing tournament scene and how you can get involved in the game via their digital versions, in addition to the physical board game.

The main topic of the episode is discussing the 4th book in the Warhammer Adventures: Warped Galaxies series, War of the Orks. As a series of books targeting a younger audience (8-12 years old), we talk about how it fits alongside other Black Library novels and its place in the miniature wargaming hobby.
