🇵🇱 Si On – artystka urodzona w Korei, absolwentka Mokwon University oraz Kyoto City University of Arts. Mieszkała i pracowała w Japonii oraz Nowym Jorku, a od kilku lat mieszka i tworzy w Krakowie. Jej twórczość obejmuje malarstwo, rzeźbę i instalację. Budując wielowarstwowe realizacje z różnorodnych materiałów, porusza tematy tożsamości, transformacji, pamięci i duchowości.

Rozmawiamy o dzieciństwie w niewielkim mieście w Korei, poczuciu niedopasowania, braku wiary we własny talent oraz o tym, jak studia artystyczne – początkowo wybrane jako sposób na opuszczenie rodzinnego domu – stały się początkiem drogi, która zaprowadziła ją do Japonii, Nowego Jorku i Polski. Punktem wyjścia jest jednak przede wszystkim pytanie o to, jak odnaleźć własny język artystyczny i zbudować zaufanie do własnej intuicji.

Rozmawiamy także o zmianie pseudonimu artystycznego, procesie twórczym, pracy z materiałami i inspiracjach, a także o tym, jak osobiste doświadczenia przekładają się na język sztuki. To rozmowa o twórczości, ale również o odnajdywaniu własnej drogi.

🇬🇧 Si On is an artist born in Korea and a graduate of Mokwon University and Kyoto City University of Arts. After living and working in Japan and New York City, she moved to Kraków, where she currently lives and works. Her practice spans painting, sculpture and installation, creating layered works from diverse materials that explore identity, transformation, memory and spirituality.

We talk about her childhood in a small town in Korea, her sense of not belonging, her lack of confidence in her own talent, and how studying art—initially chosen as a way to leave home—became the beginning of a journey that led her to Japan, New York and Poland. At the heart of our conversation is the question of how an artist finds her own visual language and learns to trust her intuition.

We also discuss the change of her artistic name, creative process, materials and inspirations, and how personal experiences are transformed into art. This is a conversation about artistic practice, but also about finding your own path.
