As I walked the beach today I could not help but notice the footprints of other travelers ahead of me.  It reminded me of those people in my life who have gone ahead of me and helped me along with my journey.  

In today's episode, we talk about the importance of honoring those that have gone before us!  No one who has experienced any form of success has gotten there on their own!  Who are those people who have marked your journey?  Whose shoulders are you standing on?  

The footprints in the sand also reminded me of one of my favorite poems that I share with you in this episode!

Today I woke up in a funky place, feeling stuck, like I am spinning my wheels in mud!  When that happens, I start to question myself and the things I am doing and if not careful find myself sliding into a pit!  NOT TODAY!

I loved walking the beach where the waves and the shore meet in Sanibel Island Florida.  At one time, not sure if it still is, Sanibel beaches were in the top 5 in the world for shells!  We have bags of amazing shells of all kinds, shapes, and sizes.  Looking for the perfect shell was therapy for me.  I know I must be a pretty boring person if I find great enjoyment in digging in the sand for shells.   But, there is nothing better than pulling up a hand full of sand and shells and discovering something you had never seen before.  

So what is the perfect shell?  I don't know, but I can tell you when I see it.  In today's episode, I talk about my hunt for the perfect shell and relate it to leadership and life.  Our quest for perfection, what is it and does it really exist.

I coached High School basketball in Texas!  People ask if we were any good... lets just say we were competitive!  One thing I new how to do was call timeouts.  A timeout is used to change the momentum, regroup, put in a specific play, encourage the team and often to give everyone a chance to catch their breath.   We could all use a time out in our lives.  In today's episode we talk about timeouts, and how they are important to our health and sanity and that they don't always have to be a long vacation.

My wife and I love taking road trips.  Today's episode we are driving to Florida for some much needed R&R.  We packed the car full with our bikes on the back and every window covered... I know, not smart.  I have added more blindspots to the trip!  In today's episode we are talking about the blind spots in our lives.  We all have them and if we are not careful they will end up causing an accident and keeping us from arriving to our destination safely.

When I was a child, my mom and uncle would take me to the fair.  They had this carnival game on the board walk called Whack-A-Mole.  I think you can find them at Chucky Cheese as well.  The object was to take the mallet and beat the mole on the head every time it popped up.  The challenge was that as you popped one mole down, another would pop up.  It was an endless cycle that you could never win.  Sometimes life can feel a little like that Whack-A-Mole game.  The challenges of life seem to come from all directions and no matter how hard we try to deal with them they just keep coming!  

In today's episode we talk about what a Whack-A-Mole life looks like and how we can kill those moles once and for all!
