#335 Part 1: Do you Fear God or His Judgment? There IS a difference!

Listen Later

The Fear of the Lord is clearly stated in God's Word. As Christians we are commanded to Fear God. But do we? If you say YES, then consider this? Do you fear the Lord or do you fear the judgment of God? The two are NOT the same.

In this episode, the Lord has revealed to Kim -- through His Word in the Book of Job -- whether Job feared God or His judgment.

Job was a blameless and righteous man; there was no one like him in the earth. He received financial and earthly benefits by "doing all the right things". However, Job feared the judgment of God and not God Himself. He sacrificed burnt offerings on behalf of his children, because he feared that his children "may have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Job feared the judgment of God on behalf of his family.

As Kim taught in episode #333, Job was bitter and self-righteous… questioning why God would allow his life to be upended by Satan. In Job's own defense, he did all the right things. He was God's "gold standard". Yet Job admitted, "I am not at ease nor am I quiet; I have no rest, but trouble comes."

Can you relate? Do you do all of the right things before God (worship, volunteer, pray, contribute financially, etc.), yet are you are still troubled and not at ease? Do you experience chronic "anticipatory anxiety" or constant thoughts about negative outcomes of future events for yourself or your children? In biblical terms, you suffer from fear of judgment and NOT the fear of the Lord.

God loves you! You don't have to walk on eggshells before God for fear of His judgment. Yet many of us walk on eggshells before those in our family that are supposed to love us. Worse yet, do those in your household walk on eggshells around you? How sad is that, but many can relate.

We can be committed, dutiful and fulfill our obligations by our own will, strength, discipline, and determination without relying on God, or we can have the fear of the Lord.

If you desire the fear of the Lord, stop performing or trying to obtain it on your own. The fear of the Lord only comes from God as Job had learned the hard way.

We are deserving of His righteousness through Jesus Christ and Him alone! We can learn a lot from Job's experience and his spiritual renewal.

Stay tuned next week as Kim continues with this teaching and describes the nine (9) benefits that come when we receive the fear of the Lord.

Job 3:23-26; Job 1:8; Job 7:11; Job 9:18; Job 10:1; Job 23:2: Job 27:2; Job 42-1-6
