Kim continues her teaching on the Fear of the Lord. To set context, one cannot understand the fear of the Lord without a reminder of who God is -- His essence, His divine nature, and His position in relationship to all things.
The Bible clearly reveals that God is Holy; it's the core of who He is. Even God declared to Moses that He is holy (Leviticus). To be holy is to "be set apart; to be distinct from the rest, standing out due to some essence or characteristic. God is set apart. There is no one like Him in heaven or on earth.
Do not be confused. Yes, God is undeniably without sin; however, to be holy is NOT about being without sin. For Christians, holiness is about standing apart, separate and distinct from the rest of the world while recognizing that there is a holy reverence that belongs to God BECAUSE He stands alone.
Therefore, holiness is a statement about God's position where He sits in relationship to everything and everyone else in the world.
Know this one truth: holiness is not judgment nor the act of judgment. God judges BECAUSE He is holy. When we mix holiness with judgment, it will impact how we respond to God. Christians can do all of the right things like Job, but if we don't set ourselves apart (being in the world but not of it) we are not in a position to see God.
TO CHRISTIANS: How separated are you from things of this world? Like Job, are you a legalistic believer that fears judgment? Do you project this fear of God's judgment onto others? Is your righteous a performance or pretense? Maybe that explains why it's difficult to be ourselves in marriage, in our families, in church or in relationship with others.
When people fear judgment, the focus is SELF. When you receive the fear of the Lord, the focus is on God. It's time to come out of hiding, because God's judgment is NOT meant to harm us. HE loves you so much that he have His only begotten Son. Honor God's holiness.
If you feel like your life is falling apart, it's God's holiness that will bring it into divine order… just like Job. When people experience the holiness of God, their tendency is to REBEL… just like Satan, Achan, Ahab & Jezebel, Eli's son's, Absolom, Pharaoh, etc. So, when you reject the holiness of God in some aspect of your life, you make yourself an enemy of God. The result is destruction.
Obedience alone does not produce the fear of the Lord. The fear that belongs to God must be produced and distributed from God. You must receive it from Him by faith. Don't forget to thank Him for it!
