The ground shifted! It shifted for you, for me, for all of us.
People became more aware of some of the social issues, mental health, social justice, wellbeing, care community, a sense of belonging, more awareness of the importance of those at work. More awakenness about the inequities around us. Different attitudes, emerged about all of the things that became more clear. People began to hold us more accountable, particularly us as leaders, much more accountable. For how we do our work and certainly hold us accountable for taking action. Those are just some of the things that shifted.
In this episode Michel highlights that most of these shifts took place below the surface. She encourages us as leaders to always remember and pay attention to context to reduce risks.
It's always important to understand context. It is even more essential coming out of this pandemic. Nothing is the way you left it. Not the environments you used to frequent, not the people you are speaking with. They're not the same, even though they may appear the same above the surface, much of what's shifted has shifted below the surface.
Check your mindset to be better prepared for what’s ahead.
Take five and set aside time to think about what can you do differently? How will you do it differently and what will be the benefit of doing it differently? Take time to identify areas where you have a fixed mindset and then intentionally shift it. These are the riskiest areas for leaders if we don’t identify them before others do. Consider the system of mindsets that you're going to cultivate to help you unpack your best post pandemic self.
