Emma and Bradley break down the last night of the DNC. First, they run through updates on the final night of the DNC, Harris’ acceptance speech, Dems’ rejection of a Palestinian speaker, poll numbers, FED interest rate cuts, the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, RealPage’s anti-trust woes, RFK’s candidacy, Arizona and Texas politics, and Ukraine’s offensive in Russia, before shining a light on the speech that wasn’t, with Georgia State Rep. and Palestinian Ruwa Romman delivering a moving couple of minutes in the wake of being barred from taking the DNC stage. Next, they dive deep into Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech from last night’s DNC, unpacking her rhetorical presentation as a tough counterweight to Walz’s empathy, her appropriate dissection of the threat of Donald J. Trump, and an unapologetic focus on reproductive justice and rights. After expanding on her role as Biden’s replacement candidate, Emma and Bradley parse through the disappointing emphasis by Harris on US empire and primacy, alongside some hypocritical commentary on Trump’s support for brutal regimes. They wrap up the free half by reflecting on some initial reactions from undecided voters to Harris and the DNC.
